A Quarantine Workout: Cross Training at Home

Hey #Quaranteam !

I know you're being bombarded by a slew of at-home workouts each and every day.

And you might not need another one.

Yet, I hope you're feeling as inspired as I am by all of the new and challenging exercises being posted with these gym-less workouts! I like breaking up my cross training with exercises that keep my heart rate up and build some stability, and I'm really taking this opportunity to build on the drills I have in my arsenal.

This is one of the many tricks I use to get through cross training days. These workouts are a must because my body needs a break from the high-impact of running and I can build up volume/endurance without actually running.

I love having a day to mentally and physically take a break, yet I also find it mentally challenging to get through 40,50, 60 minutes straight of being on the bike or the elliptical. Turning the biking into intervals separated by exercises helps break up the monotony of the cross training workout and *bonus* adds in a little strength and mobility work.

If you haven't already, watch the video above to see a cross training circuit workout I do.

Happy workout-ing!

P.S. - You don't need a bike or elliptical machine to do this workout. Instead, try fast paced walking or a mix of high knees, jumping jacks, and other cardio based movements. You can even do this exercise set on running days, using the circuit to break up run intervals while keeping the heart rate raised.
